Peterson Concert Announcements

Greenwich Library is pleased to welcome jazz musician Vince Giordano back to the Peterson Concert Series this spring. He and his band, the Nighthawks, will perform at Greenwich Library’s Berkley Theater on Sunday, May 15, at 3:30 p.m.

Giordano and the Nighthawks specialize in vintage 1920s and ’30s Jazz Age stylings and have been performing for more than four decades. They have recorded numerous high-profile television and music scenes and soundtracks, including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Boardwalk Empire (for which the band won a Grammy for the first season’s soundtrack), The Joker, and The Irishman. Giordano and his band frequently play concerts at the Town Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Newport Jazz Festival, and the 92nd St. Y.

Bandleader Vince Giordano is a native New Yorker who discovered his love of jazz during childhood when his grandmother would play her old records on the Victrola. He began collecting arrangements and learning instruments, starting with the violin and then adding the tuba, string bass, and bass saxophone. He formed the Nighthawks in 1976, where they first became known on the New York music scene by performing in nightclubs, the Rainbow Room, Carnegie Hall, and various jazz and music festivals around the world. Giordano is also a sought-after big-band and jazz-era historian and collector.

This in-person performance will run for 90 minutes; it will not be recorded or streamed. Register using the Library’s online calendar. All attendees will be required to show proof of full vaccination (in the form of their CDC Vaccination Card or a photo or photocopy of the Card) or a negative PCR Test taken within 72 hours of the event. No one will be admitted without this documentation. Protocols may be modified as and when laws, science, and/or institutional requirements change. Please note that all attendees will be required to wear face masks at all times, regardless of vaccination status, per the Greenwich Library Board of Trustees.

The Peterson Concert Series is free and open to the public through the support of the Greenwich Library Board of Trustees and generous donors.
