Librettos at the Library

Are you going to the opera soon and need a refresher or an introduction to a specific piece of work? The Greenwich Library has a collection of libretto’s that might be able to help you out. A libretto is the text which is set to music to make an opera. Libretto means “little book” in Italian, your average libretto is is quite short. But because singing a sentence takes about three times longer than saying it, a “little book,” when set to music, becomes a full evening in the theater.

Located on the second floor, libretto’s circulate for three weeks and can be renewed up to four times so that you can make sure that you are all set for the big night.
