Quick Guide to Libby

For eBooks and Audiobooks
You will need your Greenwich Library card number and PIN.

Setup

  1. Install the free Libby app from the Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play store (Samsung, Android Devices).
  2. Answer “Yes” to the question “do you have a library card?”
  3. Tap “I’ll Search for a Library,” Enter “06830,” and tap on “Greenwich Library”
  4. Tap “Enter Library Account Details”
  5. Enter your library card number (no spaces, typically 14 digits beginning in 21117)
  6. Enter your Library card PIN (4-digit number) and press “sign in”
  7. Tap “Next” when you see a copy of your library card.

Browsing & Borrowing

  1. To locate a specific title, tap magnifying glass icon in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  2. To browse, scroll down and look at the lists of popular and featured categories. Tap on whatever interests you.
  3. Once you find an available title, tap “Borrow” to the right of its image.
  4. On the next screen, you will be asked to confirm your choice by tapping “Borrow!” At this time, you can change the loan period for that title by tapping on the loan period above the image.
  5. After you confirm your checkout, you can choose to Open Book, Keep Browsing or Go to Shelf.
  6. At any time, you can get back to the Library’s collection by tapping the Library Card icon in the lower-left corner of the screen or get back to your checked-out items by tapping the shelf icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
  7. You can borrow up to 20 eBooks or audiobooks at a time. Returns are automatic and there are no late fees.
  8. To browse, borrow, and access Libby/Overdrive content from a desktop or laptop computer, simply open any browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox) go to greenwich.overdrive.com, and log on to your account.

Shelf

  1. From your Shelf, you can access your Loans, Holds, Tags, and Actions.
  2. By default, Libby downloads all of your loans so that you can read them when you’re offline. Downloads are paused when you are not connected to Wi-Fi. You can adjust these defaults in “Actions” on the upper right corner of your Shelf page.
  3. Tap “Manage Loan” on your Loans page to see other available options for that title, such as Due Date, Renew Loan, and Return Early.

Opening & Reading eBooks and Audiobooks

  1.  To read your selection, tap “Open Book or “Open Audiobook”. For Audiobooks, press the play button ▶.
