Business Programs in February

This month, Greenwich Library patrons can learn how to run a successful retailing operation from the experts at SCORE. World affairs aficionados will enjoy a presentation on the Koreas by eminent scholar Dr. Charles Armstrong of Columbia University. February offerings also include Bloomberg training by Bloomberg staff. 

Programs are open to all at no charge and held in the Library Meeting Room unless otherwise indicated. Experienced librarians are available to help you navigate the Library’s extensive business databases, directories, investor information and nonprofit resources, via email or in person.

Monday, February 22, 6 – 8 p.m., SCORE – Successful Retailing 
This workshop will help you understand some of the key metrics in growing your retail sales and profitability. If you are considering opening a store it will aid you in the decision process. You’ll learn the importance of branding and how to make sense of the numbers, learn from the mega stores and achieve extraordinary customer service. Presented by Brian Jarvis. Monday, February 22, 7 – 9 p.m., World Affairs Forum Great Decisions – The Koreas 
Greenwich Library and the World Affairs Forum will present a Great Decisions event on the Koreas with Dr. Charles Armstrong in the Cole Auditorium. Dr. Armstrong is The Korea Foundation Professor of Korean Studies in the Department of History and the director of the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University. He has taught at Princeton, the University of Washington, and Seoul National University, and joined the Columbia faculty in 1996. He is a frequent commentator in the US and in international media on Korean, East Asian, and Asian-American affairs.

Tuesday, February 23, 10 – 11:30 a.m., Bloomberg Terminal Training 
Victoria Goodrick, Senior Account Manager at Bloomberg will provide training on the Library’s Bloomberg terminal in the Library Meeting Room. Bloomberg Professional Service is a vast database used by financial professionals to obtain up-to-the-minute market news.
