Distance Learning with the Library

Whether you are sick at home or are not just able to make it to school, the Library is here to help with distance learning. Below discover an abundance of offerings available to parents and students to support at-home learning.

If you are a student, teacher, or another staff member at a school in Greenwich (public or private) make sure you sign up for a Library card; it is the key to accessing all of the resources available to you through the Library! Click HERE to sign up for a Library card.

  • Through the Digital Library, kids in pre-school all the way through high school can access eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines, digital newspapers, music streaming, homework help tools, and more.
  • National Geographic for Kids: Get full access to magazines and books for students in grades K-5 for research on topics such as animals, science and technology, environment, history, people, places, and culture. Also, access over 200 videos that offer an in-depth look at everything from solar power to the future of green construction to the Things You Wanna Know series (think ice cream!).
  • National Geographic Virtual Database: Access National Geographic magazines dating back to 1888, which can be used as a research tool for students in middle school grades and up.
  • Homework Help: Use various resources provided by the Library to help with all of your homework needs, including links to Funk and Wagner’s New World Encyclopedia and magazines and newspapers for grades K-5.
  • LinkedIn Learning: For teachers and high school students. Take online video courses for hundreds of different subjects web design and IT.
  • Mango Language Learning: step-by-step instruction for learning over 70 different languages.
  • BookFlix: from Scholastic – pairs video storybooks with related non-fiction read-along titles. There are activities accompanying each pairing as well as resources to further explore topics.
  • Tumblebooks: Offers beautifully animated and professionally narrated storybooks as well as chapter books, graphic novels, non-fiction titles, and educational games and activities for grades K-4. Teachers can look at the common core section for instructional information. The platinum subscription allows entire classes to use the same materials.
  • Looking for a different variety of entertainment?
    • Kanopy Kids: Diverse selection of educational and entertaining content that includes movies, TV series, animated storybooks, live-action, and animated favorites.
    • Hoopla Kids: Music, comic books, movies, and TV shows for children, available to stream or download.
