The New Girl

Originally written by Roy Brayton.

Daniel Silva’s 19th book, The New Girl, again features the wonderful art restorer/security agent and assassin for the Israeli government Gabriel Allon. As the story unfolds, the 12-year-old daughter of the Saudi Crown Prince is kidnapped from her exclusive private boarding school in Geneva and her father is totally distraught. The Saudi royal recruits a most unlikely ally, Allon, to find his only child before any harm is done to her. As Allon tries to find this kidnapping victim, more and more details emerge about the prince. He was, most likely, involved in the murder of a journalist.

Indeed, this plot development does mirror developments within today’s Saudi Arabia. Allon also stumbles on evidence of power struggles within the Saudi royal family itself. As usual, Silva keeps the plot evolving and this reviewer found it fast-paced and very interesting as the reader becomes involved with the affairs of power of the Saudi Arabian government. Some characters from other books about the adventures of Allon in the world resurface. Several of them are still adding to the life-threatening situations that engulf Allon.

For this reviewer, The New Girl is yet another wonderful book about Allon that Silva has written and is highly recommended.
