National Suicide Prevention Lifeline & Other Groups

The apparent recent suicide of chef Anthony Boudain is a horrible reminder that depression is a disability that doesn’t discriminate. Depression can prevent people from not just fully enjoying life but also from performing even the simplest tasks, essentially disabling them.  The University of California-Santa Cruz goes into more informed detail about this affliction. If left untreated, depression can ultimately lead to suicide.

Groups such as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can help.  If you or a friend feel overwhelmed by depression, contact the NSPL or other groups to reach out before it’s too late.

There’s also the National Suicide Text Hotline and Suicide.org  that are available to assist. So remember that you’re never alone!
