Last Friday we began this year’s Teen Summer Reading program for students in grades 6-12. This year’s theme is Imagine Your Story, and here are the details.
The program runs until August 14. Participants can sign up and create an account to log in the amount of pages read during the day. To take part in our Grand Prize Drawing (held August 14), students will be asked to log up to 1600 pages total AND take part in at least two (you can do more) of our TSR2020 Challenges. The three Grand Prizes are a Kindle Fire, a $50 Amazon gift card, & a $25 Diane’s Books gift card.
The Challenges are:
Write a book review we can post on the Teen Central Blog or BiblioCommons
Create a book trailer or video book review (no personal images shared), which we can also post on the blog and/or our YouTube account
Download a graphic novel/comic from Hoopla, then participate in our GN book group discussion
Download an album from Hoopla and write a short review for the blog or Bibliocommons
Download a movie from Hoopla and/or Kanopy and write a review for the blog or BiblioCommons
Take part in one of our virtual discussion groups on books, GNs & films
Participate in our Photography Showcase (details to be announced)
And of course Read and Log 1600 Pages Total
We currently have online book & graphic novel discussion groups for grades 6-8 meeting every other Friday at 4pm, and starting June 22, we’ll be adding an online film discussion group for the same grades that’ll meet every other Monday at 4 during the summer. Reviews & trailers for anything you’ve read, watched or listened to that we offer at the library are welcome! Our Grand Prize winners will be announced on August 14 online.
