Mother’s Day: Celebrating with a Movie and a Book

Mother’s Day is fast-approaching and can there be any better way to celebrate than with a riveting read, a great movie and perhaps even some unforgettable theater? How about enjoying all three — in one day? This year’s celebration of moms will probably be somewhat different than in years past, but with the resources available at the Greenwich Library and your library card, it can be just as enjoyable. Check out these unique offerings:

  • A selection of Mother’s Day Reads (including fiction, historical fiction and a few memoirs) about some unforgettable moms all available in the Digital Library Collection.
  • Movies (including dramas, comedies and international) with some amazing plots, characters and settings — all involving mothers and all found on the streaming movie service of Kanopy.

  • Much Ado About Nothing: Great Performances presents a Public Theater production recorded live at Free Shakespeare in the Park, a bold interpretation of Shakespeare’s comedic masterpiece featuring Danielle Brooks as Beatrice.
  • National Theatre at Home: Features full-length recordings of past plays every Thursday on their YouTube Channel. Check out the latest performance, Antony & Cleopatra, available from May 7th until May 14th.
