A mysterious man appears at a party, and starts talking to three childhood friends (two boys and a girl). He tells them his theory on parallel universes and time warps. They are somewhat skeptical. The boys start competing for the affections of the young girl (Ann). One of them drops the girl’s jump rope down a well. The girl climbs down to retrieve the rope, but never returns. Both boys are devastated.
When the boys grow up, one (Stephen) becomes a college instructor, while the other (Conrad) becomes his assistant. They try to build a time machine to find Victoria. A woman graduate student (Jane) becomes fond of Alex, and starts helping him build his machine. After several setbacks, they finally build something promising. When a man, who is trying to steal their machine, forces them to let him try it, the results are disastrous. They destroy the machine in a fit of rage.
After some time, Stephen comes up with an idea for a new machine that will allow him to travel between dimensions. He builds it and plans on using it. Ann doesn’t want him to go. Stephen wants to find Annie. You’ll have to watch it to see how the conflict is resolved.
“Dimensions” (2011) is a fast paced movie that is filled with twists and turns. The storyline is solid and the acting is superb. Unlike other English movies that can be dry and boring, this movie keeps your interest. You’ll be pleased with the twist at the end.
