Rosetta Stone Online

Important information for Rosetta Stone users:

Greenwich Library regrets to announce that our contract for the Rosetta Stone Online Language Learning Center has not been renewed. This means that as of June 30, 2008 we no longer have access to the service. We understand how popular this service is to our patrons and regret that we cannot continue to offer it. This decision was made by Rosetta Stone, not Greenwich Library. Below is a portion of the letter we received from them announcing their decision:

"This letter is to provide you formal notice that Rosetta Stone online will no longer be available to public libraries for use in online database offerings. Since its introduction into the Public Library market segment, Rosetta stone has successfully offered online language learning to library patrons with Rosetta Stone Version 2 software. We will continue to support current contracts for Rosetta Stone Version 2 Online through their duration: however, no new contracts will be issued."

At this time we have not found a replacement for Rosetta Stone. We hope that eventually some other product will be available to libraries that will offer the same level of service that Rosetta Stone did. Until that time please be aware of the other language learning materials offered by Greenwich Library. The World Languages section, on the second floor, features a huge variety of language learning CD’s, cassettes and books.
