BookFlix, by Scholastic

BookFlix logo BookFlix is our new online children's literacy resource from Scholastic that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks to encourage and build a love of reading and learning. Linking fiction with fact, BookFlix pairs are organized around nine learning categories along with some that are just for fun!
BookFlix will help develop and reinforce early reading skills while introducing children to a world of knowledge and exploration.

Recommended for pre-K - Grade 3.

For Younger Children:

  • Kneebouncers--something fun for the itty bitty ones!
  • Bananaboo--offers a variety of online and offline activites like puzzles, stories, jokes, coloring and crafts.

  • Between the Lions--check this out if you like the PBS show! There are stories and games here that you'll love!
  • PBS Kids--Music, games and coloring activities based on your favorite PBS kids show characters.
  • Nick Jr. Online Games--Nickelodeon's collection of free online games for younger children.

For Kids Aged 8 and Up:

How about going on an interactive Internet scavenger hunt or learning more about how to find stuff on the Internet?

  • Learn the 'Net at WOWOnline (Winners on Wheels, is a non-profit organization for children who use wheelchairs.)
  • Here's a page listing all kinds of Scavenger Hunts on the net. Have fun--and learn at the same time!

Check out On Lion--the great spot the New York Public Library has put together for kids! The area called "Art and Games" has lots of great after school activities listed.
