During the golden age of movies Bautzer was famous for romancing leading ladies. He was engaged to Lana Turner and Dorothy Lamour and had tabloid-fodder relationships with Joan Crawford, Ginger Rogers, Jane Wyman, Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Peggy Lee, Paulette Goddard, and scores of others.

But Bautzer wasn't just a Don Juan, he was also the most powerful attorney the entertainment industry has ever known, representing the richest man in the world -- Howard Hughes.
