Volunteer Opportunities with the Cos Cob Friends
Shelving Volunteers
At their convenience, Volunteers check in with the Librarian and are assigned one or more shelves to put in numerical or alphabetical order. No specific schedule or required number of hours is required, but there are almost always shelves needing attention.
Mailing Volunteers
Volunteers assist with periodic Cos Cob or monthly Greenwich Friends' Keep Posted mailings involving stuffing envelopes or affixing labels. About an hour to an hour and a half is required.
Program Hosting
One or more Volunteers host a day or evening program, including preparing and setting up any hospitality. This requires arriving about 30 minutes before scheduled start time. A detailed Program Hosting write-up is provided.
Baking
Volunteers assist with hospitality by preparing 3 dozen finger food baked goods, i.e., cookies, cup cakes, etc. Volunteers will be given a minimum of 72 hours advance notice for baked goods. Volunteers are encouraged to bring baked goods on paper or disposable plates. Baked goods may be dropped off by 4:45 PM for evening programs. (Frosted items not encouraged for children's events. )
Program Development Committee
This Committee plans and coordinates day and evening programs by identifying individual program topics, day trips and ongoing program (book clubs, etc.) opportunities.
Art Committee
This committee mounts displays and exhibits of local artists and crafts persons.
Nominating Committee
Prior to each Annual Meeting of The Friends, the Committee identifies, interviews and nominates candidates to stand for election to the Board of Directors.
