Hurricane Sandy really did a number on Greenwich and the rest of the Tri-State. According to the Greenwich Time, about 241,464 Con Ed customers are still in the dark across the state, with about 14,249 of them in Greenwich. Metro North has resumed limited service and more power crews are on the way. More updates from Town Hall can be found on their website here.
Greenwich Library will continue to stay open on our regular hours, plus extended hours (9 am- 9pm) Saturday November 3rd and Sunday November 4th. If you still don't have power or heat and need to charge your cell or laptop,please stop by the library. Our branches in Cos Cob and Byram will be open Saturday 9-5 and closed Sunday.
An update on teen-related library events: Chess Night,scheduled for Friday November 2nd has been canceled and will be rescheduled. Wednesday's Teens4Teens meeting is still set for November 7th at 7 pm. Details here.
International Games Day 2012 is still set for Saturday, November 3rd, beginning at 1:30 pm here at the library.
The American Red Cross is accepting donations to help people affected by the storm who lost theiir power and/or saw their homes destroyed by Sandy. If you're interested in donating funds or other forms of assistance, go here.
