Technology Training Center Programs in May- Get to Know Your Catalog, May 28

The technology training staff at Greenwich Library has a great line-up of classes planned for May. This month, staff will introduce patrons to the new Library catalog and all its features, hold a workshop on Cloud Computing and offer training in Microsoft Access. Greenwich Library training staff will help you explore new technologies and learn skills to make your online life more productive and enjoyable. Classes are offered in a comfortable environment for all participants, regardless of level, and are open to the public at no charge. 

Wednesdays, May 7-28 at 2 p.m., Get to Know Your Catalog Workshop 
The new Greenwich Library catalog launched on April 23 and was an instant hit. To help patrons become familiar with new features, Technology Training Center staff is offering hands-on training sessions every Wednesday at 2 p.m. With lots of useful functionality, patrons will quickly grow to love its capabilities. 

Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Career Coach Bus: Access Levels 1 and 2 
The CTWorks Career Coach bus visits Greenwich Library on the second Wednesday of each month to offer two-hour Microsoft Office Workshops. The bus is fully equipped with ten workstations and internet access. This month's featured training is in Microsoft Access, the popular database application for Windows. Access allows users to create custom databases that store information in an organized structure. These databases can be used for mail merge in Word and as part of home businesses or clubs, along with many other applications. Level 1 is held at 10 a.m. and level 2 at 1 p.m. Seating is limited to 10. Sign-up 30 minutes prior to class at the West Putnam Avenue entrance of the Library. 

Wednesday, May 21 at 11 a.m., Introduction to Cloud Computing 
This class will introduce you to the latest cloud applications from some of the key manufacturers in the industry. No matter what type of computer or phone/tablet device you may now own, cloud computing is changing forever the way you work with, maintain and pay for some very useful and productive new "Apps." You will learn about Microsoft Office 365, Google Drive, and Apple iCloud. 

Regular Library Technology Training Center Programming 
The Library's regular Drop-in Computer Lab is now offered three times each week: on Saturdays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., and Thursdays at 3 p.m. from May 1-31. Get hands-on assistance with new gadgets, downloading eBooks and audiobooks using OverDrive, Library databases, Microsoft Office, Internet search, email, online forms, social media, job search, basic computing and more with Library staff. Use your own device or practice with ours.
