Technology Training Center Programs in March - Getting Started with Zinio, March 26

The technology training staff at Greenwich Library has a great line-up of classes planned for March. From iPad cooking apps to online child safety, Greenwich Library technologists are here to help you explore new technologies and learn skills that will make your online life more productive and enjoyable. 

Classes are offered in a comfortable environment for all participants, regardless of level, and are open to the public at no charge. 

Monday, March 3 at 2 p.m., Cooking with your iPad 
The iPad makes for a great kitchen companion whether you're looking for just the right recipe, or you want to add variety to what you cook at home. There is no shortage of cooking and recipe apps for the iPad, from apps with prep videos to those that cater specifically to holiday cooking. In this class we'll explore some of the best apps and discuss how to protect your iPad in the kitchen. 

Wednesday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m., Protecting Your Kids, Parental Controls 
In today's world of information overload, kids have access to more stuff than they probably should, on multiple devices. Protecting them as well as setting up their technology to be a resource vs. a distraction is important. Learn how to set up parental controls for Mac, iPhone, iPods or iPad. 

Wednesday, March 12 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Career Coach Bus: Word Levels 1 and 2 
The CTWorks Career Coach bus visits Greenwich Library on the second Wednesday of each month to offer two-hour Microsoft Office Workshops. The bus is fully equipped with ten work stations and internet access. This month's featured training is in Word. Level 1 is held at 10 a.m. and level 2 at 1 p.m. Seating is limited to 10. Sign-up 30 minutes prior to class at the West Putnam Avenue entrance of the Library. 

Wednesday, March 26 at 2 p.m., Getting Started with Zinio 
Read full digital copies of your favorite magazines on your computer, tablet or mobile device via the Library's new Zinio service. Learn how to create an account to get access to over 190 popular magazine titles from the Greenwich Library website. 

Regular Library Technology Training Center Programming 

The Library's regular Drop-in Computer Lab is now offered three times each week: on Saturdays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., and Thursdays at 3 p.m. from March 1-29. Get hands-on assistance with new gadgets, downloading eBooks and audiobooks using OverDrive, Library databases, Microsoft Office, Internet search, email, online forms, social media, job search, basic computing and more with Library staff. Use your own device or practice with ours. 

A special Drop-in Computer Lab will be held at Byram Library on Monday, March 24 at 2 p.m.
