Introducing hoopla, a new digital streaming and downloadable service

Greenwich Library announces hoopla digital, a new service that offers patrons access to thousands of movies, television shows and music albums using just their Greenwich Library card. The service, now available on the Library's website, is part of Greenwich Library's Strategic Plan initiative to embrace and integrate emerging media into our collections.

Greenwich Library card holders can download the free hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or IOS device or visit to begin enjoying thousands of titles - from major Hollywood studios, and record companies- available to borrow for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets and computers.

hoopla digital has a simple sign-up and attractive, easy-to-use interface, so it's easy to access the listening and viewing experience. There's also no waiting to borrow popular movies, TV shows or albums. The automatic return feature eliminates late fees.
To access the system on your mobile device, patrons will need to first download the free hoopla digital app from the App Store on their Android or IOS device. After downloading the app and/or clicking on the hoopla digital link on our website, patrons will be prompted to enter their email address, a password, library card number, and library card PIN number. The system will validate the Library account, so that patrons can begin to browse, borrow, and enjoy the content.

Following are some helpful hints for using hoopla:
  • After borrowing a title on one device, it is automatically available via all devices with the hoopla digital app and PC web browsers (IE 8+, Firefox 12+, Safari 5+, Chrome 19+).
  • When using hoopla, patrons can begin streaming the content immediately or download content to view at a later date.
  • Patrons will be allowed to borrow five titles each month.
    • Video lends for 72 hours
    • Music lends for 7 days
  • Patrons can access (view/listen to) borrowed content as often as they want during the checkout period or return borrowed titles early if they wish.
