Podcast: Bestselling Author Thomas Cahill

Acclaimed historian Thomas Cahill, author of the Hinges of History series, spoke on November 20, 2013 as part of AuthorsLive@GreenwichLibrary. The author enlightened patrons with a discussion of history through the lens of two forces, religion and nationalism, as well as an argument for the growing relevance of the western world. Cahill attributed the dominance of western sensibilities, in part, to the Christian enlightenment as contrasted with the much slower pace of 'enlightenment' among the religions of the East, such as Islam. Cahill's sixth book in the Hinges series, Heretics and Heroes: How Renaissance Artists and Reformation Priests Created our World, has just been published.
