Take your child to the Library day- Saturday, February 2
Greenwich Library will celebrate "Take Your Child to the Library Day" on Saturday, February 2. Special giveaways, activities and crafts will be held at each of the branches to celebrate all the library has to offer children and families. Information about "My First Library Card," the Ready for Reading Kits, downloadable eBooks, library databases for language learning and homework help, and program information about story times and book clubs for children birth to age 12, will be available.
One of the highlights of the day will be the Theatreworks performance of Skippyjon Jones at 2 p.m. in the Cole Auditorium, presented by the Friends of Greenwich Library. The performance is approximately one hour and appropriate for grades K-4. Pick up free assigned seating tickets (limit 6 per person) at the auditorium doors at noon. Return at 1:50 p.m. when doors open.
The Greenwich Library Children's Room will offer a Mother Goose storytime at 10:30 a.m., and drop-in crafts between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. featuring Groundhog Day and Valentine's Day themes. Children can also enjoy short films in the Constellation Room, and games and puzzles at the Imagination Station. C
Cos Cob Library will host a special magic show at 1 p.m. featuring 13 year-old Greenwich resident Benjamin Zabin. Zabin has been practicing magic since the age of three, and is now a seasoned performer. At 3:45 p.m., Cos Cob Library will host Acoustically Rockin' Your Kids World with Laura Doherty, a family music program. A special story and craft session will take place at 10:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required. Please call 203-622-6883 for more information.
At the Byram Shubert Library, children can participate in a special craft session with Allison at 10:30 a.m.
