AuthorsLive: NY Times Bestselling Author Andrew Gross to Launch 15 Seconds at Greenwich Library
Diane's Books and Greenwich Library will present New York Times bestselling author Andrew Gross as he launches his latest book, 15 Seconds, on Tuesday, July 10, at 7 p.m. in the Cole Auditorium.
Not many authors can say they've almost landed in jail while on book tour--but Andrew Gross can. In 2010, Gross was driving in an unfamiliar town and trying to find his way when he was pulled over for making an illegal U-turn. What should have been a routine traffic stop ended up with Gross handcuffed and detained in the back of a squad car with a tenacious police officer shouting homeland security-type questions in his face. Luckily for his legions of fans, he was let go with a warning but that experience got him thinking about just how quickly your life can change. And that experience led to his most recent thriller, 15 Seconds.
15 Seconds may not seem that long--the time it takes to send a text message, feed your dog, tie a tie--but for Dr. Henry Steadman, 15 Seconds is all it takes for a routine traffic stop to turn his life upside down, set him on the run from the police, and make him Florida's most wanted man. Henry Steadman seemed to have it made: a successful medical practice, Hallie, a daughter any father would be proud of, and an amicable ex-wife. So when he finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, it at first seems to be a case of mistaken identity. But when the bodies start piling up, and all signs point to Henry, he realizes he is the target of a sinister plot to seek revenge for actions he didn't even know he caused. And in a chilling twist, if Henry doesn't get to the bottom of what's happening, and fast, his daughter might be the one to pay the price.
"This is the best yet from Andrew Gross," said Nancy McFarlane, owner of Fiction Addiction in Greenville, SC, in the July 2012 Indie Next List of Great Reads.
