Greenwich Library wants to hear from you! Greenwich residents are invited to participate in a series of community conversations to share their views and ideas about Greenwich Library's services and priorities and help inform the Library's strategic plan for mapping out the Library's future.
Sessions will be held on Thursday, October 13 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Byram Shubert Branch Library; on Monday, October 17 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at Cos Cob Branch Library and on Tuesday, October 18 at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Meeting Room at Greenwich Library. Led by Maureen Sullivan, the Library's Strategic Planning consultant, each session will last 90 minutes and is limited to 40 participants on a first come, first served basis.
The community conversations are another building block in the Library's year-long Strategic Planning process. Results of the Community Survey conducted in May will be released later this fall.
"It is critical to involve the community in developing our next strategic plan," said Jenny Baldock, President of the Greenwich Library Board of Trustees. "These conversations will allow us to delve deeper into specific questions and ideas so we can better understand the present and future needs of our patrons."
Greenwich Library continues to be a premier destination for residents. This year, the Library reached an exciting milestone, welcoming its five millionth visitor since the opening of the Peterson Wing in June 1999. During this same period, circulation has increased 60 percent and visitor traffic to the Library's three buildings has grown nearly 66 percent to a record 777,600 patrons in 2010-11. These increases occurred along with the growth of the Library's website, which provides 24/7 access to numerous resources, including eBooks and downloadable music.
As Greenwich Library embarks upon its latest round of strategic planning, it is crucial to hear from everyone to maintain the Library as a relevant and responsive resource for the community.
