Three former First Ladies will share secrets in the Cole Auditorium on Sunday, October 16 at 2 p.m. when Emmy Award-winning actress Elaine Bromka stars in the one-woman show Lady Bird, Pat & Betty: Tea for Three. Bromka's performance has been hailed as a "subtle feat of brilliant acting."
What might three former First Ladies reveal if they could? Tea for Three unveils a gallery of intimate portraits of Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon and Betty Ford; three remarkable and radically different First Ladies. We discover each at a threshold moment in her life, and learn the personal cost of what Pat Nixon called "the hardest unpaid job in the world."
Through Elaine Bromka, we walk in the shoes of these three formidable women and come to know their most private thoughts, emotions, strengths, perseverance and courage. Bromka, a professional actress, has brought 30 years of experience on Broadway, Off-Broadway, television and film to this performance. She wrote the script for Tea for Three with Eric Weinberger, a Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominee. She has performed the one-woman show throughout the country to rave reviews.
This show has been critically acclaimed for its blend of humor and passion. Reviewers have cited it as "marvelous, poignant" and "a fascinating evening, laced with insight, emotion and humor."
Free and open to all. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. For more information, contact Alice Bonvenuto at (203) 622-7919.
