The Friends of Greenwich Library elected four new trustees to serve on the Greenwich Library board at their annual meeting in May. Mary-Jane Brogan, S. Wear Culvahouse, Mary Lee Kiernan (not pictured) and Kathy Whittemore will serve three-year terms.
Mary-Jane Brogan is a long-time Cos Cob resident who has served as Chairman of the Friends of Greenwich Library and President of the Friends of Cos Cob Library. An active community volunteer, she has held leadership positions in the Junior League of Greenwich, Cos Cob School and St. Michael's Women's Association. Brogan earned a B.S. from the University of Connecticut.
S. Wear Culvahouse currently serves on the President's Council for the Red Ribbon Foundation and served on the Greenwich Hospital Board of Trustees. Culvahouse earned a B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; and an M.D. from Quillen-Dishner College of Medicine. He completed his residency in OB/GYN at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Mary Lee Kiernan is an active community volunteer. She served as Chairman of the Board of the United Way of Greenwich as well as Vice Chairman for Fund Development, Co-Chair of the $3 million Annual Campaign and moderator of annual Legislative Breakfast. She is a current member of the Needs Assessment Steering Committee and Community Planning Council. Kiernan is a current member of the Fairfield County Community Foundation board and is a former co-chair of the FCCF Fund for Women and Girls. She currently serves as a trustee of Greenwich Academy and has served on the boards of the Junior League of Greenwich, Parents Together, First Presbyterian Church Nursery School, Red Ribbon Foundation and many others. Kiernan earned a B.A. from Harvard College and J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Kathy Whittemore has served on the Brunswick School Parents Association Executive Board and the Greenwich Academy Parents Association, as well as the Development Committee of Kids in Crisis. She is a former high school English teacher who holds degrees from Villanova University and University of Rhode Island.
