This summer, Greenwich Library's Technology Training Center is all about eBooks. Each easy-to-understand session is taught by a librarian who is an expert at the highlighted web service. All programs are free and open to the public.
"Electronic reading devices have become very popular with our library community. Our downloadable collection is compatible with many of these devices. These programs will teach patrons to access the Library's eBook collection and also find free books online," said Training Librarian Jasmine Posey.
At eBook University, patrons will learn how to download eBooks from the Library's collection that will work with most eReaders. Receive a hands-on introduction from Library staff to the major devices, such as the Barnes & Noble Nook™, Kobo™, Sony™, iPad™, Pandigital™ and Kindle™. Bring your own device or practice with ours.
Join the world of social networking by attending a four-part series on facebook. Library staff will demonstrate how to create a free account, add photos, join groups, play games, chat, message and manage your privacy settings.
Instructor Rony Mikhail will provide an overview of just how smart phones have become in Help, my phone is smarter than me! Patrons will learn how smartphones function and determine whether or not a smartphone is right for them. Calling, texting, email and customizing with apps will be covered.
In addition, the Career Coach will offer training on the bus, featuring Excel and PowerPoint. The Career Coach parks outside the Library's West Putnam Avenue entrance, registration is required.
