This month in the Technology Training Center

This September the Greenwich Library's Technology Training Center will roll out programs for job seekers, business researchers and those that love to share photos over the web.

Spotlight Online will share the benefits of Krazoom.com on Monday, September 13, at 2 p.m. Krazoom, a new online job hunting website, replaces the keyword search with an extensive catalog of standard requirements frequently used by employers in job postings.

The Byram Shubert Library will reopen on Monday, August 23 after a two-week closure for carpet installation. Children are encouraged to visit the branch to pick up any last minute summer reading titles before Greenwich Public Schools begin on August 31. "We're very pleased with the new carpet. The work was completed efficiently within the timeframe. The Library is ready for business and to resume its schedule of activities," said Library Director Carol Mahoney.

Byram Shubert Library 1.jpgThe Byram Shubert Library will be closed from August 7-22, 2010 to allow crews to move furnishings, relocate computer equipment and wiring, remove old carpet and install the new. The work is projected to take two weeks.

Although it was installed just over a year ago, the carpet at the Byram Shubert Library is already worn and frayed in areas and shows stains. The Building Committee discovered that the carpet installed at the Byram Shubert Library was not the carpet specified by the architect. As a result, the carpet manufacturer has agreed to pay for the cost of new carpeting and the installer will cover the costs of removal and installation. The Library will be responsible for only the cost for site preparation, cleaning and additional work including installation of extra backing to protect the new carpet.

"August is typically a quieter time for libraries. This timeframe will allow for the work to be completed after Summer Reading ends and before school begins," said Greenwich Library Director Carol Mahoney.

During the closure, Byram Shubert Library patrons may visit the Main Library or Cos Cob Library. The book drop at the Byram branch will be emptied frequently for the convenience of the patrons. All reserved items will be transferred to the Main Library for pickup. All fines will be waived for Byram Shubert Library patrons during the closure period.
