Rosemary Wells will address the subject of Lincoln and his family. Wells is author and illustrator of many books including Lincoln and His Boys (2009). While researching a historical novel about the Civil War, she came upon a 200-word fragment by Lincoln's son, Willie, about a trip taken with his father, and this was the inspiration for writing about Lincoln from this perspective. Carl White, Local History Librarian will discuss the Gettysburg Address. Patrick Raftery, assistant librarian for the Westchester County Historical Society, will discuss Lincoln and his leadership of the military during this tumultuous period. Kate Kelly, author of Election Day: An American Holiday, An American History, will talk about Lincoln the candidate and his election to the presidency.
A question and answer period will follow the panel discussion. This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Local History Librarian Carl White at 203-622-7948.
