Literary agent and publishing consultant Jan Kardys will present "You Wrote a Book, Now What?" at the Cos Cob Library on Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. The workshop will cover the secrets of getting published, marketing plans, advertising, self-publishing, subsidiary rights, editorial issues and much more.
Kardys will offer a backstage look and insider's tips to authors and illustrators pursuing their dream. Her professional background includes working with almost a dozen major publishing companies. This exposure helps her provide an in-depth understanding of publishing.
"There is nothing I enjoy more than helping new authors and illustrators," said Kardys. "I've established personal relationships with many publishing professionals. My close affiliation with this group affords me a deep understanding of their needs and work styles that I can share with aspiring book creators."
The two-hour presentation will include 15 detailed handouts for each attendee, an introduction to professional publishing reference materials and a question and answer session.
"We have quite a few patrons working on their books here at the Cos Cob Library, so this workshop will get them to the next step," said Wendy Silver, branch manager of the Cos Cob Library.
The workshop is free and open to the public in the Community Room at the Cos Cob Library, 5 Sinawoy Road, Cos Cob. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Cos Cob Library. Registration is not required. For more information, please call the Cos Cob Library at 203-622-6883.
