Children's Events


Children's events include musical productions, puppeteers, plays and other types of programs targeted toward children ages 3 to 8. Performances are held 4 to 5 times per year in the Cole Auditorium on Saturday afternoons. Tickets are free and are available on a "first come first serve" basis starting at noon on the day of the performance in the lobby of the Cole Auditorium. Performances begin at 2 pm and usually last 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Please contact Kirsten Pitts or Julia Dunn for more information.

"Young Hercules" by the Robert Rogers Puppet Company

When: Wednesday, February 10, 2016 - 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Where: Byram Shubert Library at Community Room

What do you do when your dad is the mighty, thunderbolt throwing Zeus, and you, too, have incredible strength far beyond your age? Young Hercules just wants to fit in, and the other kids don't know what to make of him. This story, set in Ancient Greece, is about a little boy who learns what it means to be a leader and a hero.

"Make your own Puppet Workshop" with Robert Rogers

Besides being an accomplished theater producer, director, playwright and designer, Robert has devoted much time to teaching young people the art of puppetry to foster creativity a means of self expression

CRITTER CARAVAN!

When: Thursday, March 24, 2016 - 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Where: Cos Cob Library at Community Room

The Friends and Staff of Cos Cob Library welcome a return visit by Critter Caravan. Children of all ages, accompanied by an adult, are welcome to attend this hands-on educational and entertaining mammal and reptile show. Animals such as a chinchilla, hedgehog, angora rabbit, lizard, tortoise, snake, and guinea pig will be visiting. Registration is not necessary and this program is free to the public.

Clay Cartooning with Debi Hamuka Falkenham

When: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Cos Cob Library at Community Room

The Friends and Staff of Cos Cob Library present a clay cartooning workshop. Using only primary colors, children will learn to mix all colors and will create their own cartoon character. This workshop is intended for ages 7-12 and space is limited. Registration begins on April 11th. Please stop in to sign up or call us at 203-622-6883 to reserve a spot.

"Pete the Cat" Music Program with Al deCant

When: Saturday, April 30, 2016 - 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Where: Cos Cob Library at Community Room

The Friends and Staff of Cos Cob Library host Al decant of Half Moon Music as he presents a program of songs that celebrate PETE, THE CAT! Al will take you on a musical journey that promotes the joy of reading. He plays guitar, drums,and rhythm instruments. So come and enjoy and participate in a fun hour of music for the whole family! No registration is necessary. This program is presented free to the public.
