Library for the Print Disabled

The library offers the following services for the print disabled who are unable to read print materials due to visual, physical or other disabilities.


AudioBooks are located on the second floor by the Fine Arts Desk. The library carries several titles on audiocassette and compact disc in the same grouping (fiction, mystery, science fiction and non-fiction) as Large Print Books. Call (203) 622-7930 for assistance.

Large Print Books (hardcover; some paperback) are located by the first floor elevators next to the Periodicals entrance and the "New Books Section" area. Organized by fiction, mystery, science fiction and non-fiction. Call (203) 622-7911 for assistance.

National Library Service For The Blind and Physically Handicapped

Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS administers a free library program of braille and audio materials circulated to eligible borrowers in the US by postage-free mail. Eligible borrowers can apply for exclusive use of this service in English and in Spanish. In addition, eligible individuals get access to over 17,000 titles available for download through NLS's Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) site. An application for access to BARD is required and available on the NLS BARD website.
